Tuning and setup

How to tune the Growler Pedal steel guitars. E9 tuning and setup 2 pedal 2 knee lever Or 3 pedal 4 knee lever

  • On all strings that have only Raise on the pedals or knee levers tune at the Tuning keys to the correct note first. Then engage the pedal for the raise and if needed tune the raise at the tuning nuts.
The tuning nuts are the nuts on the end where the changer is and can be reached through the end plate of the guitar with a ¼ inch nut driver wrench.
  • To tune the strings with Lower note bends as in the 4th and 8th string E’s that lower. First engage the  A&B PEDALS AND the Left knee going right on right handed guitar Always tune the E strings with A&B Pedal down. This gives the exact sweetening or the tuning needed for the guitar to be in perfect tune on the E strings. and tune to the Lower note of Eb or D# Then release the knee lever and check the note to see if it comes up to pitch of E. If so you are done. If it does not come up to The note of E then the tuning nut will need to be tightened just a small amount like 1/8 or ¼ turn
If the string goes to high on the E note then the tuning nut will need to be loosened a little like 1/8 or ¼ turn at a time till in tune.
Same procedure with Right knee right on the lowers of strings 2 and 9 just different notes.
  • On six string guitars the E strings Lower. Tuning procedure is the same as on ten string E strings.
  • CAUTION DO NOT TURN TUNING NUTS TO MUCH AT ONE TIME. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY.
  • Pedal Quick Connectors Pedal rod hooks over screw

  • Knee levers fold down End view of tuning nuts folded knee levers for travel
  • Legs all go on so Numbers can be seen
Knee levers can fold out back of cabinet for easy to reach with knee.
  • Tune your strings LKR and RKR with knee lever   Engaged to the lowered pitch.
  • Then release them and   adjust the fine tuning nuts to standard pitch.
  • All knee levers have   adjustable stops under guitar body. They are preset at shop and should not   need adjustment.
  • Adjustment for more pull on a string loosen the screw. For less pull tighten the screw.
